UK government that social stigma and discrimination is still affecting certain groups of young
people, including those who are lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender.

Council of Europe identifies LGBT young people as significantly vulnerable to suicide

In March this year the Council of Europe passed resolution 1608: Child and teenage suicide in Europe: A serious
public-health issue. The resolution emphasises the need for member states to give priority to preventing child
and teenage suicide. The report highlights the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender young people.

LGBT: The outsiders
(24th January 2008)Members of GALYIC who gave a presentation to two local schools in Calderdale have featured in an article in "Children & Young People Now" magazine. The magazine is read by youth workers and other professionals who work with young people across the country.

Closeted and Vulnerable
(December 2007)In the December 2007 issue of Counselling Children and Young People, Angela Hodgson, Psychosexual Health Counsellor and Jan Bridget wrote an extensive article on young lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. The journal has a wide readership amongst mental health workers and counsellors.
